Renfrewshire Council is seeking to recruit an experienced Fleet Team Leader who will be responsible for the operational leadership, development, delivery and management of Renfrewshire Council’s Fleet Services including the Fleet Workshop and Fleet Office. You will support the Fleet and Sustainable Transport Manager in the strategic and operational delivery of the Council’s Fleet Services to achieve best value and deliver an efficient, sustainable, safe and customer focussed service.
The post holder will be a named representative on Renfrewshire Council’s Operator Licence and provide specialist and technical advice and guidance on a range of transport compliance and regulatory measures to a range of internal and external stakeholders. You will have responsibility for the Fleet Maintenance Workshop and Fleet Office and will support the Fleet and Sustainable Transport Manager to oversee the management of the depot security function for Underwood Road Operational Depot.
It is essential that you possess a relevant degree or professional qualification, or evidence of professional competence and skill gained over an appropriate period of time, and you will hold a Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage Operations (CPC).
You will have effective leadership skills and experience in leading and managing a diverse range of services along with up-to-date knowledge of statutory and legislative requirements of the service and operator licence requirements.
With effective communication, influencing and negotiation skills at all levels skills you will be able to engage with a range of stakeholders including elected members, senior internal staff, operational staff and regulatory authorities.
You must have a proven track record in financial management managing budgets across a range of diverse business units, experience of working operationally and strategically with key partners to develop and deliver services and experience of formulating and implementing strategic plans within a large and complex organization.
It is essential you analytical and decision-making skills and have the ability to manage risk and be accountable for decisions taken.
You will assist the Fleet and Sustainable Transport Manager in the development of a Net Zero plan for decarbonisation of the Council Fleet.
A valid Driving Licence is also essential
This post is based at Underwood Road Depot.
