We are seeking a committed and motivatedSpecialty Doctor in Psychiatryto join our dynamic mental health team atHMP Bronzefield, the largest women’s prison in Europe. This is an opportunity to deliver meaningful care in a unique setting—supporting some of the most vulnerable individuals in society.
About the Role
As the Specialty Doctor, you will play a vital role in the delivery of psychiatric care within the prison. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, diagnose, and manage a variety of mental health conditions. The role offers rich clinical variety and professional challenge in a secure setting where your input will be valued and impactful.

• Clinically competentwith a solid grounding in general adult psychiatry
• Team-orientedand thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
• Flexiblein approach and able to adapt to the challenges of prison healthcare
• Hard-workingwith a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to patient care
• Motivatedto provide high-quality, compassionate care to a diverse population
Experience in forensic or prison psychiatry is welcome but not essential we support development and learning.
• Assessment (including the assessment of risk), treatment, care planning and multiagency liaison for people with mental health problems in the prisons.
• CPA management of care.
• Undertake Mental Capacity Assessments.
• Contribute to planned emergency interventions.
• Liaison with prisons, courts, statutory and non-statutory agencies, concerning all aspects of the mental health care management of men with mental health problems in the prisons.
• Assessment and recommendation under the 2007 (Revised) Mental Health Act (the post holder must maintain Section 12 approval).
• To work closely with the Manager, Psychologists and other lead professionals to provide clinical leadership and ensure safe, supportive care.
• To liaise closely with other medical, clinical and managerial staff to provide high quality care pathways.
• Participation, when relevant, in the ACCT (self-harm / suicide prevention) processes.
• Practice in accordance with NICE and other relevant Guidelines and CNWL Trust policy.
• Accurate record keeping according to Trust and professional guidelines (data protection legislation and information governance standards).

The speciality doctor will provide clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care to the men/women resident in the Surrey Prisons (HMPs High Down, Downview when it re-opens, Send and Coldingley)To develop their own specialist interests and if appropriate to bring these in line with Trust and local service development plans.Teaching and training of medical students, specialist nurses, other nurses and prison staff where appropriate.
To contribute to the maintenance and development of offender care services within the Trust to the highest standard through clinical audit and other activities related to Care Quality
