Crynodeb
The Children’s Book Project is a grassroots charity, powered by volunteers at every stage of what we do. At our three Book HQs in London, Leeds and Birmingham our Team Leaders run corporate and community events at which donated books are checked, organised and boxed for distribution. Each event is attended by volunteers that are briefed and supported by the Team Leader and a wider team. The Team Leader also helps volunteers to properly understand the value of their contribution.
Our Team Leaders work as part of a team and are supported by Volunteer Coordinators at each session. Your role as a Team Leader will be to set overall objectives for the day, to brief the team at the outset and to ensure all health and safety protocol is adopted.
On any typical day with us this role might include:
- Briefing the Volunteer Coordinators so that they can support you
- Briefing the wider volunteer pool at the start of the session: setting objectives and explaining a little about our work
- Ensuring plans are achieved and completing necessary reporting.
This role suits a well organised individual that enjoys working and building rapport with groups of new people and that is able to structure a productive but enjoyable day for volunteers. You might have an interest in our aims, in children's books or in volunteering within your local community. We are looking for organised people that enjoy motivating and supporting others, working as part of a team and helping to make a tangible difference to the lives of children and young people across the UK. You should be a confident communicator, a people person: adept at putting people at their ease and inspiring them to help achieve your goals. The role can involve standing for periods of time so you should be mobile.
We run two volunteering days a week during term-time at our Birmingham HQ and are looking for a Team Leader that can help run one or both of these days - opening up the unit, managing the session and helping us reach our gifting objectives.
