Crynodeb
The post holder will take an equal share of the cardiology ward inpatient beds on a rotational basis. During CCU usual fixed commitments will be cancelled or covered by another consultant cardiologist. During the cardiologist on call week, the consultant cardiologists undertake daily ward rounds on the CCU including weekends and provide out-of-hours consultant cover the phone with a frequency of 1 in 10 weeks. In addition to CCU ward rounds the on-call consultant see inpatients consultation referrals from other wards. On call commitments also involve weekend attendance to the cardiology ward to post-take new patients and review patients who requires senior review from previous handover. The post holder will provide out ofhours 5pm-9 am normal days and all weekends advice to the on-call team. Telephone advice is not frequent based on our experience and rarely require attendance to hospital out of hours, for example for temporary pacing wire insertion. In addition to 0.5PA for weekend ward rounds a supplement of 5% is paid for on call availability. They are not involved in the General Medicine on call rota. There is no commitment to General Internal Medicine oncall or GIM post take ward rounds.
