Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for the role of a Point of Care Testing (POCT) Coordinator Band 7 at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust within Biochemistry POCT department, part time 15 hours per week. This post is across Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals. These 15 hours can be worked flexibly between Monday – Friday. You will work collaboratively with the other POCT Coordinators in the team.

As a POCT Coordinator you will help the POCT manager run the team, including managing the Associate Practitioners in the team. Your main focus will be on training and quality of POCT devices for the trust. Also, as a department, we are working towards UKAS Accreditation, therefore a knowledge of UKAS standards would be beneficial.

• Responsible as one of the leads for POCT
• Manages and coordinates the day to day activities of the team
• Leads on service improvement
• Responsible for standard and quality of results
• Provides specialist advice to clinicians
• Provides specialist service e.g. training, advanced trouble shooting, problem solving for specialist requirement.
• To work flexibly in reflection of service needs which may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 day per week service.
• The work of the service brings staff into constant contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals.
• Maintain and promote professional image of the pathology
