Join us at the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) as a Product Manager (Data Products). This role offers you the chance to make a significant impact by leading the development and continuous improvement of data products that support the Pensions Dashboard and MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard programmes—delivering value to internal users and key external stakeholders including the Department for Work and Pensions, The Pensions Regulator, and the Financial Conduct Authority.

Role Overview

The Product Manager for Data Products will report directly to the Lead Product Manager for Data Products. In this role, you will be responsible for:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of data products that underpin the MoneyHelper Pension Dashboard and related programmes.
  • Lead the iterative development of data products, ensuring alignment with user needs and organisational goals.
  • Collaborate with BI analysts and UI/UX designers to improve the usability and accessibility of data products, primarily Power BI dashboards.
  • Ensure data products are designed to be accessible and valuable to external organisations including government and regulatory bodies.
  • Use product usage data to inform prioritisation and lifecycle decisions.
  • Address legal, privacy, and governance considerations early in the product lifecycle.
  • Manage the development and iteration of one or more data products or services.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand needs and manage expectations.
  • Translate user needs and business goals into product outcomes.
  • Maintain and communicate product roadmaps and backlogs.
  • Collaborate with delivery managers, designers, analysts, engineers, and developers to deliver value.
  • Use evidence and data to inform product decisions and prioritisation.
  • Contribute to the wider product community at MaPS.

You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience.

To excel in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Product management – experience managing data products or services such as business intelligence dashboards.
  • Agile and Lean practices – applying Agile principles and tools to support delivery.
  • Applying user-centred insights – using stakeholder insights to improve product outcomes.
  • Creating value for money – identifying opportunities for reuse and efficiency.
  • Life cycle management – understanding product lifecycle phases.
  • Managing product outcomes – identifying priority outcomes and using baseline data.
  • Stakeholder relationship management – building consensus and improving relationships using evidence.
  • Strategic ownership – aligning decisions with organisational strategy.

Flexible Working
At MaPS, we take pride in our flexible approach to work. As standard, we work on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. Hybrid working is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and our headquarters in Bedford will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business needs, but personal and other relevant circumstances will also be considered. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
