QUALITY CONTROL & PLANNING ENGINEER
About Us
Star Dairies Limited is one of the largest paneer manufacturers in the UK. Founded in 2015, we’re driven to deliver dairy products with high quality, traditional taste, and competitive pricing. Our manufacturing site is SALSA + Cheese accredited. We’re a growing business, continually striving for excellence in our values, our products, our people, and our ethics.
We produce both dairy-based and vegan alternative products supplied nationwide to supermarkets, distributors, restaurants, caterers, and retail shops. Our range includes Paneer (soft cheese, known as Indian cheese), Yogurt, Vegan (plant-based) Paneer, Ghee (clarified butter), and Shrikhand (a traditional South-Asian yogurt-based dessert).
The Role
We’re seeking a proactive and experienced Quality Control & Planning Engineer to lead quality assurance and production planning across our paneer manufacturing operations, ensuring strict compliance with food safety standards, consistent product quality, and efficient use of resources.
Job Description
The successful candidate will maintain high standards of paneer production through rigorous quality checks and robust production planning.
Key Responsibilities
• Quality Control Duties
• Implement and monitor HACCP, ISO 22000, and FSSAI standards specific to paneer production.
• Conduct routine testing of raw milk and finished paneer for fat content, moisture, microbial load, and shelf-life.
• Supervise pasteurisation, coagulation, pressing, and packaging stages to ensure process integrity.
• Maintain detailed records of batch-wise quality checks, non-conformance reports, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure quality of milk, coagulants, and packaging materials.
• Lead internal audits and prepare documentation for regulatory inspections.
• Planning Duties
• Develop daily and weekly production schedules based on demand forecasts and milk availability.
• Plan and coordinate product trials for new paneer variants or packaging formats.
• Optimise resource allocation—labour, equipment, and materials—to reduce downtime and improve yield.
• Monitor production KPIs such as throughput, wastage, and cost per kg.
• Align production timelines with regulatory testing schedules and dispatch commitments.
What We’re Looking For
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Dairy Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience: 2–3 years in food manufacturing, dairy processing, or quality control & planning roles; paneer/dairy experience highly desirable.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of HACCP and ISO systems; excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities; strong communication and attention to detail.
Overseas candidates can apply. This position may lead to Sponsorship for eligible candidates.
Location: Leicester, LE5 0RG
Type: Full-Time
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
