Placemaking and Mobility Strategy and Development Manager
Waverley Court

Salary: £54,476 - £65,184
Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks

Are you keen to shape the future of Scotland's capital city? The City of Edinburgh Council is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Placemaking and Mobility Manager. This role offers the opportunity to be directly involved in shaping, leading and delivering enhancements to Edinburgh's streets, and in particular the city centre.

You will have a strong understanding and proven track record of delivering sustainable transport projects and initiatives, ideally in a complex urban environment, with extensive experience in programme, project, budget and team management. You will provide leadership to support the delivery of mobility and placemaking projects which will directly contribute to the Council's City Mobility Plan, as well as wider social, environmental and economic goals.

Reporting to the Head of Transport Strategy and Partnerships, this post sits within the Place Directorate in Edinburgh, and forms part of a management team within the Transport Strategy and Partnerships Service. This Service area as a whole leads on sustainable transport policy; delivery of active travel, public transport and placemaking infrastructure across the city; delivery of sustainable transport initiatives and programmes including behaviour change; air quality management and monitoring; monitoring and evaluation of sustainable transport interventions; and continued development of the City's innovative street design guidance.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we're bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.

To help achieve this, we're changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.

You can find out more on Our Behaviours web page https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/work-us/behaviours" target="_blank">Our Behaviours - The City of Edinburgh Council

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
