Crynodeb
Participates in the welcoming and reception of patients in the clinical area, supporting the assessment process and liaising with the Emergency Department Registered Practitioner. Participates in the delivery of care in conjunction with the Emergency Department Registered Practitioner. Ensuring assistance is provided with patients activities of daily living. Assists in creating an environment which meets the needs of patients, relatives and carers. Escort/support relatives within the department and to the Mortuary. Has the skills, knowledge and competency to perform the following clinical skills: Vital signs and early warning score Urinalysis Pregnancy Testing Capillary Blood Glucose Monitoring ECG Acquisition Venepuncture Peripheral IV access Urinary Catheterisation Basic Limb Casting Pressure Area Risk Assessment Wound Closure Ensure adequate skills to maintain/update patients computer records. Evaluate, analyse and act upon those findings that directly relate to the provision of Emergency Care. Ensure the Registered Practitioner is aware of any conditional changes that may affect patient acuity. Recognise the work load of colleagues and provide support as necessary. Acts as a mentor to junior staff.
