We’re looking for a passionate Sous Chef to bring fresh ideas and energy into the kitchen of a small, warm residential care home rated “Good” by the CQC.
This is a chance to use your skills to bring joy, flavour, and nutrition to the daily lives of older residents. You’ll be part of a friendly team where your cooking is valued, your ideas are heard, and your work has real purpose.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role (care home, healthcare, education, or contract catering experience an advantage)
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or higher)
- Knowledge of nutrition, allergens, and dietary requirements for older adults
- Passion for food and creativity in the kitchen
- Team player with strong communication skills
- Positive attitude and commitment to resident wellbeing

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of seasonal, fresh meals tailored to residents’ preferences and dietary needs (including modified textures and special diets)
- Support the Head Chef with menu planning, daily operations, and kitchen organisation
- Maintain excellent food hygiene and safety standards in line with regulations
- Assist with stock rotation, food ordering, and storage
- Keep the kitchen clean, safe, and well-organised at all times
- Work collaboratively to create a calm, respectful, and efficient kitchen environment
