Job Title: Lead Technician (Science and Art)Contract: Fixed-term, 11 months (September 2025 – July 2026)Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week) or part-time (24 hours per week), 39 weeks per year (term time only)Salary: Col4 + M4 allowance (£35,563 – £37,391 FTE)Pro-rated: £19,579 – £20,585 (24 hours) / £32,631 – £34,309 (40 hours)
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Lead Technician to oversee our Science and Art technician team and ensure high-quality technical support across both departments. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting innovative, hands-on learning for students, while leading and developing a dedicated team.The successful candidate will:Lead and manage the technician team, fostering a supportive and collaborative working environment.Work closely with teaching staff to deliver effective technical support for lessons, projects, and enrichment activities.Oversee the safe preparation, use, and maintenance of equipment, materials, and laboratory/workshop spaces.Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, including COSHH procedures and risk assessments.Support the wider school community by contributing to events, outreach, and partnership activities.We are looking for someone who:Has experience supporting science in a school or laboratory setting.Demonstrates strong leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills.Is confident in applying Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.Can adapt flexibly to the needs of a busy school environment.Experience in a school context is desirable but not essential — what matters most is a proactive approach, attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting excellent teaching and learning.In addition to a rewarding and dynamic work environment, we offer an attractive benefits package, including: A competitive pension plan.
