You are pivotal in us achieving our vision and to support this we embrace diversity and want everyone to feel valued and have a sense of belonging.We are recruiting for an Assistant Curator (Archives) to join the Collections and Research Team on an 18-month fixed term contract. This role has been funded by The National Archives ‘Archives Revealed’ grant, with the intention of uncovering hidden gems and supporting material for the NMRN’s Barracuda Live! Project. This unique project intends to rebuild the world’s only Fairey Barracuda and you will be pivotal in making that happen. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to gain experience and knowledge through working with our internationally significant and diverse collections. Whilst you will primarily work with the Fairey Aviation Company Archive, you should have a flexible attitude and a willingness to work with all our collections. As well as assisting and supporting the Barracuda Live! Project you will also be contributing to future displays and programming activities.You will be based at our Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovilton, Somerset and our bespoke collections store Cobham Hall. There is limited scope for hybrid working.This is a great opportunity to join a close-knit team of staff and volunteers working directly on the NMRN collection.This is a fantastic opportunity for emerging heritage professionals with an enthusiasm for working with museum, archival and library collections; this role will provide experience and knowledge to help develop their future career progression.This is a chance to gain experience within a collections management environment, carrying out collection’s movement, documentation and care to high standards and best practice.This role also offers a chance to deepen your interest or expand your knowledge of naval aviation, particularly the history and aircraft of the Fairey Company.What you can bring: Applicants should have experience working with collections in the heritage sector and a solid understanding of professional museum standards.
