Vocational Skills Tutor - Heathrow Immigration Removal Centre
£31,585 per annum - 40 Hours per Week
Job objectives and responsibilities
· To lead and deliver the OCN Vocational Skills programme maintaining standards of delivery and quality assurance.
· To maintain a purposeful and meaningful vocational programme for detainees in a healthy, safe and secure environment, ensuring legislative, company and contractual standards are satisfied.
· To proactively promote, design employability skills, vocational and other educational courses including online learning.
· Utilise a range of assessment processes to meet the needs of the detainees, giving them the opportunity to gain external qualifications.
· Maintain records and learning data to maximise the efficient and effective verification of vocational courses.
Main duties and accountabilities
-Ensure the completion of all documentation and administration in line with company policies and any external agency requirements so that accurate, compliant data is maintained and provided.
· Support staff in delivery needs and peer support to encourage the team's development.
· Organise and provide the provision of timely accurate data to meet all relevant standards.
· Developing and improving lesson plans and carrying out appropriate learner assessments, upholding the integrity of the programme and keeping accurate records.
· Maintain a safe, secure and productive environment in which detainees can attain purposeful skills and knowledge.
· Promote the education department, liaising with other departments, to ensure relevant courses and activities are offered and uptake is optimised.
· Monitor attendance and seek detainee feedback to continuously improve and maximise uptake.
· Undertake further duties to support the Education department in the delivery of relevant educational courses as required.
Person Specification
· An attained or working towards an appropriate teaching qualification is required.
· Experience in delivering educational and/or employability skills is preferable
· A working knowledge of ICT is required.
· Experience within the custodial setting would be an advantage.
YOU MUST BE ELIGABLE FOR CTC CLEARANCE , YOU MUST HAVE A VALID BRITISH PASSPORT, OR EU PASSPORT WITH SHARE CODE, HAVE LIVED AND WORKED IN THE UK FOR 3 YEARS WITH NO EXTENDED TRIPS OVERSEAS, HAVE NO CRIMINAL CONVICTIONS OR BE PART OF AN ONGOING POLICE INVESTIGATION.
