Crynodeb
Responsible for the delivery of excellent clinical care within the vascular access team in close collaboration with the non-registered and registered nursing team and medical teams. Receive and process referrals, requiring a reasonable depth of knowledge around vascular access and vessel health preservation to safely and effectively prioritise patient bookings into vascular access clinic lists. Pre-assess patients vascular access requirements, support patients who attend for PICC insertion and those who may present with treatment related complications. Effectively use ultrasound to take bloods and cannulate patients with challenging vascular access. Participate in infection control audits of PICCs and weekly surveillance of inpatients with PICCs. Participate in the delivery of staff educational programmes to improve knowledge and safety of central venous access devices.
