Location: KIMS Hospital, Maidstone
Reports to: Estates Manager
Are you newly qualified or in the early stages of your career in plumbing or mechanical engineering?
KIMS Hospital, the largest independent hospital in Kent, is offering an exciting opportunity for a Junior Hospital Engineer (Mechanical Bias) to join our Estates team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a modern, patient-focused environment where you'll help ensure our hospital runs safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
About the Role
As a Junior Hospital Engineer, you'll play a vital part in keeping our facilities safe, compliant, and fully operational. Your responsibilities will include:
- Diagnosing and repairing faults on a wide range of plant and equipment, including hot and cold-water systems, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and wastewater systems.
- Supporting legionella prevention and control as part of our water safety programme.
- Carrying out routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and ensuring accurate records are kept.
- Working with external contractors to ensure equipment servicing and breakdowns are completed to a high standard.
- Responding to out-of-hours call-outs as part of the on-call rota.
- Supporting the wider Estates team with additional tasks as required.
About You
We're looking for someone with:
- NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing (or an equivalent recognised qualification).
- Experience in domestic or commercial plumbing installations, maintenance and repairs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with a polite and approachable manner.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with building management systems (BMS).
- The ability to stay calm, reliable, and professional in a busy hospital environment.
