An exciting opportunity to join the Northumbria Stoma Services has arisen, and as such we are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Band 6 Stoma Nurse Specialist to join our team, working full time 37.5 hours per week.



The Stoma Service is a Trust wise service providing high quality and seamless patient care for the Northumbria population. The post holder will be responsible for; autonomous nurse led clinics, community home visits, review of current stoma patients, supporting new stoma patients to self-manage care, liaison with the Colorectal Surgeons to site and support patients preparing for a stoma. The post holder will be based at North Tyneside General Hospital, but expected to work Trustwide. Driving licence essential.



The post holder will be a first level registered nurse with relevant evidence of post registration experience and professional development. The nursing care is delivered through nurse-led clinic, telephone follow up and support during their stoma pathway.

Successful applicants will require excellent communication and holistic assessment skills, as well as a keen interest in stoma and colorectal services Previous experience in stoma nursing is advantageous, as would a familiarity of running nurse-led clinics. To ensure a patient centred service is offered, the ability to work across sites and on some evenings and Saturdays is also crucial.
