Vacancies have arisen for project controls support in both reactors programme and balance of site. The purpose of the post is to support delivery of the decommissioning programme of work, which includes both projects and operations.
The job holder will demonstrate a detailed knowledge of developing and implementing baselines that encompass resource, cost, risk and logic driven schedules. The job holder will be able to coordinate the flow of information between all groups that may have an influence on projects, and then collate this data to report on progress, plan for future activities, and proactively advise on the impact of possible changes. Required tasks include producing/updating P50 and P80 confidence level schedules and costs, parametric estimating, project sanctioning, and project controls tasks as required.
Hear from the Hiring Manager:
Project controllers work closely with project and operations managers, to assist with the manager’s responsibilities of scope, schedule, finance, risk, quality and resources. The definition of project controls from the association for project management is:
Project controls are the practice of assessing if the proposed work is worth doing, of preparing for work before it is done, of thinking about what might go wrong before it is done, and of doing something about it if it does. Project controls involve the specialisation of core project management skills of managing scope, time, cost, risk and change. Once the work has started, project controls are about measuring what has been done objectively, forecasting what might happen in the future, and assessing and suggesting action to correct any failings or exploit any successes.
The successful candidate will have the understanding, skills and knowledge required to ensure project controls are in place at all stages of work and will be able to report on them; they will be able to build a good working relationship with colleagues and managers; and they will develop an understand of the environment in which the business operates and the drivers for change.
