Young Deaf person with learning difficulties looking for Communication Support workers to help at home and support him to have an active social life. The 31 year old is cheerful, cooperative, hard working, polite and has a zeal for life. Although struggles to make friends due to language barriers.
You must have BSL to at least level 1, although higher would be advantageous, and be working towards greater proficiency. A key role would be to facilitate communication between the young person and others, including helping him to develop language skills.
You will help the young person at home with things like gardening, housework, cooking, promoting healthy lifestyle, prompting and very occasional personal care. You will support him socially to go swimming, cinema, out for food, disco and to work.
There is a genuine occupational requirement for female only workers due to specific care needs of the young person. You must also be a member of the PVG scheme or willing to join. It is essential that you have an understanding of autism and learning difficulties and work experience would be helpful.
It would be useful if you had a clean full driving licence valid in the UK.
