Crynodeb

We are seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Residential Support Workers to join our Ofsted-registered children’s home. You will provide full-time care for children and young people aged 8–17 years with Emotional and Behavioural Disorders (EBD) and other complex needs.

The role requires you to meet children’s day-to-day needs, provide consistent emotional support, promote independence, and create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment. You will play a vital role in safeguarding, behaviour management, and implementing individual care plans in line with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted Quality Standards.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide high-quality care and supervision for children aged 8–17 with EBD, trauma, and complex needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships through consistent care, empathy, and appropriate boundaries.
• Safeguard children at all times, ensuring their welfare, safety, and wellbeing are the highest priority.
• Support children in developing independence skills, including self-care, education, health, and social development.
• Implement behaviour management strategies, de-escalation techniques, and trauma-informed approaches.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of individual care plans, risk assessments, and placement plans.
• Support children with attending school, college, training, and external appointments.
• Promote positive routines, boundaries, and daily structure within the home.
• Accurately record daily logs, incident reports, and statutory documentation in line with regulations.
• Work as part of a consistent, supportive team under the guidance of the Registered Manager.
• Undertake sleep-in duties, evenings, weekends, and shift work as part of a rota system.
• Engage children in activities, outings, and therapeutic interventions to promote social and emotional growth.
• Attend team meetings, training, and supervision sessions to develop professional practice.
• Work within legal, regulatory, and policy frameworks including the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Ofsted Quality Standards, and safeguarding legislation.

Requirements

Essential:
• Genuine passion for improving the lives of children and young people.
• Resilience, patience, and ability to manage challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins on a rota basis.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and inclusion.

Desirable:
• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards within 2 years).
• Previous experience working in residential childcare, education, youth work, or a similar care setting.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, safeguarding, and EBD care.
• Full UK driving licence.
