We're open to applications from people who may require flexible working arrangements. There'll be an opportunity to discuss your flexible working requirements during the interview process, and at offer stage.
We're looking for a Risk and Compliance Analyst to join our Co-op Legal Services (CLS) team in Manchester and support on a range of legal and regulatory matters. We're known for our ethical approach, innovative use of technology, and dedication to our member-owners, customers, and colleagues. We're a leading provider of probate, estate planning, and private client services with a portfolio of commercial partnerships and blue chip clients in the financial advisory, insurance, and banking sectors.
In this role, we'll look to you to be our go-to administrator and data analyst for risk and compliance. You'll be involved in a range of activities that involve the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) code of conduct, conflict, and client identification, data protection, anti-money laundering, complaint handling, professional indemnity insurance and negligence claims. You'll be analysing data and information to assess problems and develop solutions, supported by senior colleagues in your team. If you have the skills and regulated business experience we're looking for, this is a great opportunity to make a real impact on our legal business, and shape your legal career.
What you'll do
- Provide guidance, advice, and support on key regulatory issues (including SRA code of conduct, data protection legislation, conflict searches etc.)
- Contribute to maintaining the compliance policy and risk management frameworks
- Monitor the breach registers and assist with breach investigations and reporting, making sure regulatory issues are being reported to Compliance Officer for Legal Practice
- Analyse and interpret data and trends to identify areas of change
- Identify CLS colleagues' training needs and assist with the delivery of it
- Maintain records, collate data, and generate reports to analyse business performance and help identify process improvements
- Carry out key control testing as part of the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process across the firm's regulatory and operational risk profile
This role would suit people who have
- Experience working in a regulated business (e.g., Legal, Financial Services etc.)
- Experience developing compliance strategy and delivering solutions to technical problems
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to process large amounts of data
- Good knowledge of the MS Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Good knowledge of data protection legislation, subject access requests, and processes
- Good communication and relationship-building skills
Why Co-op?
If you've got the skills and experience we're looking for, we can offer you a competitive salary and great benefits package which includes 30% off Co-op branded products in our food stores (as well as other discounts on Co-op products and services). You'll also get:
- An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
- 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
- A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
- Coaching and training to support your career development
- Access to a subsidised gym (at our Manchester HQ)
- Wagestream - a money management app that gives you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
- Grocery Aid - 24/7 access to a range of emotional, financial, and practical support services for you and your family

We're also part of the Disability Confident scheme, meaning we'll always offer an interview to disabled candidates who apply through the scheme if they meet the minimum criteria for a job.
We'll ask whether you'd like to be considered under the Disability Confident scheme when you apply.
If we invite you to take part in the recruitment process for any of our jobs, we'll ask you if you need any reasonable adjustments to enable you to participate.
