Hours: 35 hours per week. 8:00am - 4:00pm with 15 minute break and 45 minute lunch, both unpaid.Interview date: 19 September 2025A primary HLTA (Higher level teaching assistant) role is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in children’s education, drawing on your commitment to developing pupil learning ability and knowledge accessibility. HLTAs provide essential class cover in the school and they run interventions to support children’s learning.
Working closely with class teachers, you will be helping children to expand their knowledge and play a positive role in school life. You will utilise your knowledge, creativity and listening and communication skills to help children understand the information presented. You will be able to provide varying levels of individual attention, reassurance and support with learning tasks as appropriate to children’s individual needs.
As a HLTA, every day is different and you will enjoy variety and a challenge. As a HLTA you will:
• Provide planned and reactive cover for classes from Reception to Year 6.
• Provide feedback in books through marking
• Providing support to children who need additional help with their work.
• Facilitating interventions to support children with additional needs catch up and keep up
• Helping with school trips, events and outings.It's important that the right candidate has a good level of understanding of the emotional needs of children with autism, ADHD and attachment issues.
