Executive Support Manager

(Office of the Vice-Chancellor)

1.0 FTE / 35 Hours per week

The starting salary will be from £38,249.00 per annum (grade 7)

Who we’re looking for:

We’re seeking a dynamic, highly organised professional, to lead and coordinate support for the Vice-Chancellor and Executive Leadership Team. In this pivotal role, you’ll oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the office, working closely with the Governance Services Manager and collaborating with Directors, Deans, and colleagues across the University. With exceptional leadership, communication, digital and organisational skills – plus a flair for problem-solving and a proactive approach – you’ll provide first-class administrative support at the very heart of Marjon.

What you will be doing:

In this role, you’ll lead and inspire the Executive Support Team, creating a professional, positive and inclusive working environment. You’ll manage the smooth flow of information in and out of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, ensuring communications are timely, accurate and consistent, and working in close partnership with colleagues across the University.

You’ll coordinate and support the Vice-Chancellor and Executive Leadership Team’s engagement with internal and external stakeholders and play a key role in major events. Your responsibilities will also cover specific administrative support for the Vice-Chancellor including complex diary and inbox management, overseeing special projects, managing budgets, and handling confidential correspondence with the utmost discretion.

You’ll schedule and service Executive Leadership Team meetings, follow up actions, and support strategic discussions and away days – making sure everything runs seamlessly behind the scenes so our leadership can focus on delivering the University’s vision.

You’ll need to enjoy:

• Building strong, respectful relationships with colleagues at all levels and with external partners.
• Leading and inspiring a committed team, supporting their professional growth and development.
• Balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
• Handling sensitive and confidential matters with absolute discretion.
• Planning and delivering events, meetings and projects that run seamlessly.
• Knowing your expertise behind the scenes helps the University achieve its ambitions.

Where you’ll work:

In this role, you’ll be based in the Vice Chancellors office in the South Block on our green campus in the north of Plymouth.

Our current hybrid working policy means there is some opportunity to work from home, dependent on business needs, but you will need to maintain strong campus links and be available on-site when needed.

For an informal discussion about the role please email PeopleTeam@marjon.ac.uk and a member of the team will be in touch as soon as possible.

Supporting our people:

At Marjon, we are firmly committed to supporting every member of staff who works for us. Our Balance programme of health and wellbeing activities aims to help you to look after your physical health, nutritional health, mental health and social health.

We’re big believers in the importance of work/life balance. Many of our employees work flexibly and they are able to apply for parental leave and time off for dependants, plus Christmas closure days and eight bank holidays.

We are keen to hear from a diverse range of applicants to support our goal to realise every individual’s potential. We are a ‘Disability Confident Employer’: candidates who declare a disability and who demonstrate on their application that they meet the essential criteria will be included on the shortlist.

Closing date: Sunday 14 September 2025 (at 11:59pm)

Interview date: Tuesday 30 September 2025
