Medical care of Orthogeriatric patients on our Trauma wards, predominantly fractured neck of femur patients. * Maintaining the highest clinical standards in the management of Orthogeriatric patients on the trauma unit and other clinical areas, as required. * To share with colleagues responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Orthogeriatric patients on the trauma unit, in line with national and local clinical guidelines. * Teaching and training of resident staff, medical students and Allied Health Professionals. * To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME). * To actively participate in both departmental and Trusts matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit. * To attend meetings as appropriate. * Fulfil duties of weekly timetables, including out of hours or weeks with prior agreement. The job plan will consist of 10 PAs with sessions that will be ward based, supporting the Fractured Neck of Femur Trauma unit at Heartlands and reviewing orthopaedic outliers, with medical management of patients admitted to the trauma wards. There will also be a requirement to undertake outpatient sessions to provide and develop the Fracture Liaison Service. It is expected that weekend working will occur with a 1 in 8 frequency. The post-holder will be managerially accountable to the Clinical Service Lead for Trauma and Orthopaedics, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director for CDG2. The successful candidate will be expected to agree a formal job plan with the Clinical Service Lead The post-holder will be expected to cross-cover essential services when his/her consultant colleagues are on leave
