Location: Birmingham - travel to the office required with remote working available
Hours: Permanent Fulltime 37.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per year + private healthcare + benefits

What will you be responsible for?
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for leading in the procurement of varied supplies and services such as subcontractors, road surfacing materials, drainage components, traffic management services, and civil engineering supplies. The role is pivotal in ensuring that all purchasing activities are carried out in a timely, cost-effective, and compliant manner to support the successful delivery of highways and infrastructure projects.
Your day to day will include:
-Procure materials and services specific to highway construction, including aggregates, asphalt, geotextiles, kerbs, drainage systems, and traffic management
-Help source subcontractors for services such as surfacing, white lining, fencing, and earthworks
-Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers and subcontractors
-Liaise with site managers, engineers, and quantity surveyors to forecast material needs and avoid delays
What are we looking for?
This role of Buyer is great for you if:
-Strong knowledge of highway construction materials, plant hire, and subcontractor services
-Excellent negotiation, communication, and supplier management skills
-Proficient in procurement systems and Microsoft Office Suite
-Understanding of NEC contracts
