We’re seeking a part-time Switchboard / Helpdesk Operator to join the team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
In this key role, you will be responsible for connecting callers to the appropriate departments and contacts across Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, as well as ensuring that helpdesk tasks are completed promptly and efficiently.
You’ll assist with both internal and external inquiries - including emergency calls and support the Trusts Emergency Preparedness Plans.
The Role
Provide efficient, courteous, and helpful support to callers.
Operate the internal bleep system.
Proactively maintain the computer database of hospital personnel, departments, and telephone numbers.
Undertake any clerical duties necessary to promote efficiency at all times.
Follow internal and external major incident and emergency procedures (e.g., bomb alerts, chemical spillage, hospital shutdown).
Manage the CAFM system and internal Helpdesk, liaising with members of the FM team to process and relay information.
Work on public and bank holidays when required, as the department operates 24/7, 365 days a year.
About You
Strong communication and clerical skills, including computer literacy.
Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Able to cope well under pressure.
Previous experience is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided.
