Location: South Tyneside (community outreach required)
Salary: £23,205 pro rata (depending on experience)
Hours: Part-time, 21 hours per week Monday–Friday, plus 1 Saturday morning every 8 weeks
Contract: Fixed Term until 31 August 2026 (subject to funding)

Age Concern Tyneside South (ACTS) is a registered charity supporting older people in South Tyneside. We work to improve wellbeing, reduce isolation, and help people maintain independence.
Role overview:
We’re looking for a friendly, motivated Community Development Worker to deliver the Communi-Tea Wellbeing Project. You’ll engage with residents aged 50+, organise community activities, support health and wellbeing initiatives, and build local networks to increase social connections and participation.
Key responsibilities:
Engage with residents, community groups, and local organisations to promote the project
Plan and deliver community activities and events
Support individuals at risk of social isolation or poor health outcomes
Provide guidance on local services and wellbeing support
Work with partners including healthcare professionals and voluntary organisations
Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers
Monitor participation, gather feedback, and report on outcomes
Person specification:
Experience in community engagement or voluntary sector work (paid or voluntary)
Understanding of older people’s needs and barriers to participation
Strong communication and organisational skills
Confident working in community settings and building relationships
IT skills, including Microsoft Office, email, and social media
Desirable:
Experience supporting volunteers
Knowledge of health inequalities and early intervention
