Crynodeb
We are seeking a dedicated Hindu Temple Religious Worker to support daily temple activities and rituals in a non-pastoral role.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain cleanliness of deity housing and associated drainage areas
Assist in decorating the deities for rituals and festivals
Support the priest during services and rituals
Prepare prasadam (pirasatham) for both deities and devotees
Participate in and assist with temple events such as:
Homams - prepare all items for each individual Homam for the priest, items for ganapathy homam, rudra homam, navagra homam, chundi homam
Assist the priest with all items for the Hindu weddings and assist with the wedding itself
Assist with Hindu remembrance ceremonies
Other Saiva-style rituals in accordance with Tamil Nadu traditions
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role assisting priests in a reputable temple
Strong working knowledge of Hindu traditions and temple rituals
Demonstrated experience in planning and executing temple ceremonies
Ability to engage respectfully with religious workers from diverse backgrounds
Fluency in Tamil or Telgu (required) and working knowledge of at least one of the following languages: Telugu, Tamil, or basic English
Capability to respond to devotee inquiries in a respectful, non-pastoral manner
A positive and enthusiastic attitude towards assisting devotees
