Our client Scottish Power are currently recruiting for a Community Lead to join the team based in Glasgow.

This will be a 6-month contract initially but likely to be extended and a hybrid role.


Role Purpose:
Work to deliver the company’s Community Framework. (c. £250m in RIIO-T3).
Analyse effectiveness of processes for effective distribution of funding through robust and effective mechanisms.
Work closely with the corporate support functions – establishing relationships and knowledge.
Manage processes which leverages current £5m SPT Net Zero Fund to full advantage, ensuring delivery in line with guidance.

Responsibilities
Work closely with the Community Manager to deliver the company’s Community Benefits framework; worth c. £250m across RIIO-T3.
Responsibility for all stakeholder communications, including newsletters, e-bulletins and relevant webpages relating to Community Benefits, improving perceptions of the company amongst key stakeholder groups.
Research, compile and write content for all related submissions to regulator, including for the RIIO-T3 business plan.
Assist key business leads to identify and build relationships with stakeholders.
Responsible for development and implementation of robust processes to embed Community framework into the business.
To bring consistency of approach across business areas in respect of community engagement.
Managing data and reporting, which ensure impact can be measured.
Support development and delivery of public information campaigns, which improve recognition, understanding and reputation of the company and understanding of Community Benefits.
Working with the comms team to facilitate messaging for social media communications across multiple channels, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and Yammer, with the aim of delivering key messages to existing and new audiences, creating local advocates in our communities.
Benchmarking of activity against other utilities globally, recommending new solutions which help meet business objectives and responsible for implementation thereafter.
Manage own workload to update key stakeholder documents, including database and engagement plans, which are annually assured.
Make recommendations of new ways to improve company reputation and image around Community Benefits, including award submissions and partnerships and innovative and leading edge communications solutions using new technology.
Manage own workload to Research, compile, write and work with comms team to publish content through all social media channels. Identify opportunities to engage with key stakeholders and partner organisations. Develop and introduce new methods, techniques and practices that ensure social media channels are up to date, accurate and compliant. Suggesting and sourcing marketing communications content from across business.
Manage own workload to prepare professionally designed presentations to be used across organisation, within specified branding guidelines, as required.
Sit on and lead the relevant internal working groups for area.
Negotiate with external market research, creative and comms team to devise plans for new work and to monitor delivery against business requirements.

Skills/Experience
Marketing background and previous relevant experience.
An in-depth understanding of the UK utilities market.
In-depth knowledge of SP Energy Networks business activities.
A close understanding of the varying Business unit requirements within SP Energy Networks.
Ability to generate innovative solutions in regulatory context.
Understanding of stakeholder mapping.
Ideally educated to degree level in a relevant Marketing or Communications discipline.
Relevant experience in communications gained within a highly rated utility or similar environment.
Experience of devising internal & external two-way communications processes around service related industries.
Creative and strategic thinker and have some understanding of complex regulated businesses.
High verbal reasoning, verbal comprehension and numeric skills.
Excellent team working skills.
Highly creative, coupled with ability to monitor/evaluate.
The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Well-developed Influencing and negotiation skills.

Proficient in the use of IT – predominantly windows and Microsoft packages.

Capabilities
Experience of delivering as part of a multi-disciplined team with clear outputs and positive results.
Clear understanding of communications in a regulated utility company.
