Job title: Live-In Personal assistant (PA)
Reporting to: The Employer
Location: Redditch, Worcestershire B98
Job purpose:
To assist with a variety of tasks which will assist the person who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.
About the employer:
Our client is a 53-year-old gentleman who is a full-time wheelchair user living in the Redditch area who requires support for 24 hours per day from a live-in Personal Assistant.
This Personal Assistant role is to support our client with accessing the community & attending activities.
Our client is Non-Verbal but communicates his needs and wishes using a Bliss Book. He is also Peg Fed which training can be provided for the successful candidate.
Main duties:
Social duties
keep in touch and socialise with family and friends
attend work at Coventry University
attend social activities & events in the local community
Personal care: support with showering, shaving, teeth cleaning, dressing, PEG feeding, administering medication, eating or performing exercises/physiotherapy.
Type of person that you/they are looking for:
Values: someone that is honest, reliable, punctual, non-judgemental, ability to build good relationships based on trust and respect, flexible, adaptable, easy going, able to work alone, positive, willingness to travel, understands equality and diversity or has a good sense of humour.
Specific requirements: someone with experience in caring for individuals with complex needs. Trained in Moving & Handling & PEG Feeding. Must be able to drive.
Hours of work: 24 hours per day – 1 week on 1 week off basis.
Rate of pay: £2720 Per Month
Skills, qualifications, and experience
Essential:
driving licence
car and appropriate insurance
previous care experience
previous experience of PEG Feeding
trained in moving & handling
confidentiality
good at building relationships
Preferred:
computer literate
good communicator
ability to support people with complex needs
This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
