As we prepare to welcome our pupils back this September, we’re looking for passionate and dedicated ASD Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join our team and play a key role in making the new academic year a success.
At Birchwood, Cardiff’s specialist school, we combine education, care, and therapeutic support to create a nurturing environment where every child with autism and complex needs can thrive. With small class sizes, cosy classrooms, and a dedicated team of educators and therapists, September is the perfect time to start a new journey with us.
As an ASD Learning Support Assistant, you will:
• Support teachers with planning, assessments, and creative teaching methods.
• Provide high-quality learning experiences through varied approaches.
• Work with small groups of pupils with ASD and complex needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
• Assist with personal care, routines, and engaging off-site activities.
• Promote a positive, inclusive environment where every child can succeed.
What we’re looking for:
• Resilient, empathetic, and creative individuals with a passion for supporting children.
• GCSEs (or equivalent) are valued, and we provide qualifications in ‘Supporting Teaching and Learning’.
• Experience with SEN/ASD is welcomed but not essential — we’ll give you the tools and training to succeed.
Please Note: This position involves working with children in a regulated capacity and requires an Enhanced DBS Check, including a Barred List Check.
