Rate of Pay: £13.50 per hour
A gentleman living in Carmarthen is seeking a reliable and supportive Personal Assistant (PA) to assist with daily activities and promote his independence, well-being, and social engagement.

Weekly Schedule
Monday - Spend time in the Towy Sports bar (Carmarthen) with colleagues/friends. (2 hours) (total mileage = 3 miles)
Every Tuesday - Hydrotherapy session - The Swim centre, Pensarn, Carmarthen (9.30am - 11.30am) (total mileage = 4 miles)
Wednesday – (9.45am – 12.45pm) Travel to Bowls session @ Bowls Club, Manor Rd, Ammanford (total mileage = 48 miles 40 mins travelling each way)
Every second Thursday of the month - Stroke association club - Carmarthen - Caraway pub in Pensarn (1pm - 4pm) (total mileage = 4 miles)
Every last Thursday of the month - Stroke association club - Llanelli - Sessile Oak pub (12.30pm - 4.30pm) (total mileage = 47 miles)
Thursday (2 a month)- Spend time in the Towy Sports bar (Carmarthen) with colleagues/friends. (2 hours) (total mileage = 3 miles)
Saturday morning - visit to coffee shop/nearest beach (Llansteffan) (10am - 12pm) (total mileage = 16 miles)

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Encouraging Independence
Support and encourage the employer in gaining confidence and developing greater independence in his daily life.
2. Activities of Interest
Enable and assist the employer to interact socially while attending activities of interest, supporting their participation and inclusion.
3. Activity Support
Provide appropriate support while attending chosen activities, ensuring safety and enjoyment.
4. Independent Living Skills
Support the employer in developing and maintaining independent living skills, such as mobility, communication, and decision-making.
5. Companionship
Provide companionship within the home by engaging in conversation and social interaction, helping to reduce isolation.
6. Appointment Support
Encourage and, where necessary, support the employer in attending health or personal appointments.
7. Mobility Assistance
Assist with safe mobility to and from the car and support with wheelchair transfers. The employer has left-sided weakness, limited vision in his left eye, and unsteady mobility.
8. Dressing and Personal Care Support
Assist with dressing and provide personal care support whilst using the bathroom, particularly when out in the community.
9. Health and Safety
Ensure the employer’s safety and well-being at all times during working hours.
10. Additional Tasks
Carry out any other reasonable tasks requested by the employer during working hours, in line with the role.
11. Data Protection
Maintain strict confidentiality at all times in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
12. Safeguarding
Be vigilant regarding any safeguarding issues and report any concerns immediately to Carmarthenshire County Council on 01267 228751.
13. Emergency Contact
Be responsible for contacting the employer’s GP, Social Worker, or Local Authority should medical assistance be required.

Person Specification:
• Caring, patient, friendly, and respectful in approach
• Responsible, reliable, honest, and trustworthy
• Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative
• Ability to develop a long-term, supportive, and consistent relationship with the employer
• Willingness to assist with personal care and mobility needs
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak to others on behalf of the employer when required
• Able to undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner
• Good timekeeping, with flexibility around working hours and duties based on the employer’s needs
• Able to keep simple records (e.g. time sheets) and follow instructions as needed
• Has good local knowledge of the area where the employer lives
• A full, clean driving licence and business use added to vehicle insurance will be required.
• Willingness to undergo relevant training to best meet the employer’s needs
• Awareness of confidentiality, safeguarding, and professional boundaries
