About the job.
Do you have a passion for solving complex problems, managing highly influential stakeholders, working on interesting projects, and achieving results and challenging conventional thinking?
We're looking for a proactive, customer-focused, team player to join the South East Route Managers team.
This is a role where you'll work proactively with internal and external partners, parish councils, local authorities, members of the public, to understand priorities and network needs across your area. Using your leadership and influencing skills, you'll influence, develop, and deliver our approach to managing and improving the Strategic Road Network within your area, and deliver results and improvements for our customers. You will be able to confidently represent National Highways in public forums and, where relevant, discuss with members of the public and external partners why no action may be taken.
We're always looking to improve our customer service across the Strategic Road Network, and a large part of this role will centre on delivering high quality results with a focus on improving safety and network performance, while providing exemplary customer service.
- Develop and maintain an effective and collaborative relationship with regional stakeholders and customer groups including MPs, Local Authorities, Parish Councils, Emergency Services, and other regional transport or customer bodies.
- Proactively manage, assess, and coordinate the prioritisation of investment and champion work required for the routes in your area in line with asset needs, customer insight, regional strategies, and Government policy.
- Work with others across the business to develop the regional route strategy which identifies areas where investment would be beneficial, in line with Government Policy, and work with others to develop a long-term investment programme and solutions.
- Assess potential solutions and delivery options based on a variety of criteria and make informed decisions about the prioritisation of renewal and improvement schemes in future route plans.
About you.
- Experience in the development of stakeholder management plans, project management plans, and engaging with highly influential people in a complex and political environment.
- Strong understanding of how Government policy is formed, and a good understanding of how policy and legislations is applied to delivering benefits for the country.
- Knowledge of investment appraisal, infrastructure management, and asset management would be beneficial, but not essential.
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, strong leadership and influencing skills, and be able to manage difficult conversations.
- Strong focus on delivering customer service both internally and externally.
