Do you have experience of working within health and safety in a busy and varied environment? Can you help to promote a positive health and safety culture?
About us
At the Science Museum Group (SMG), we make it our mission to inspire futures. In order for us to keep our museums accessible and open for all, we are continually committed to the wellbeing and protection of our buildings, collections, employees and visitors through the production and delivery of policies and procedures group wide. One of the key functions who will deliver on this is Health and Safety (H&S).
We are now looking for a Health and Safety Officer to join us on a fixed-term basis until March 2027, contractually based at the Science & Industry Museum in Manchester, with occasional travel to cover the National Science & Media Museum in Bradford too.
About the role
As H&S Officer, you will provide H&S advice, including completion of audits, review of incidents and H&S communications. You will also complete specialist assessments including noise and DSE assessments and support in the delivery of Health, Safety and Wellbeing training.
About you
Joining us, you'll have experience of working in a similar role in a busy and varied environment. You will ideally hold a Level 3 H&S qualification, or will be studying towards a Level 5 H&S qualification. You'll have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft office applications (specifically Excel), with the ability to work with other relevant systems/software, and will have a pragmatic, supportive and collaborative approach to H&S. This is a busy role in a busy and complex environment, so the ability to manage multiple and conflicting tasks, diaries and deadlines will be helpful.
Not sure if you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
