Summary


City & Hackney CAMHS is seeking a motivated and experienced CAMHS practitioner to join our small and dedicated Paediatric Liaison Team for6sessions per week to work alongside the clinicians in our large multidisciplinary Specialist CAMHs Service.

The role involves providing specialist assessments and brief interventions for children, young people and their families attending Homerton University Hospital and on occasion other east London acute trust hospitals, with both physical and mental health needs.

The role also includes delivering consultation to paediatric and emergency colleagues. The post holder would be working alongside your Paediatric Liaison Team colleagues, consisting of a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist one day per week and a Highly Specialist Nurse in Paediatric Liaison. The post holder will also have the opportunity to work with the Emotional and Behavioural Team and when possible, attend the Emotional and Behavioural weekly multidisciplinary meeting once monthly.

The Paediatric Liaison Team (PLT) provides mental health input for the assessment and treatment of children and families affected by physical illness difficulties, including medically unexplained physical symptoms (MUPS), at our Specialist CAMHS service at Homerton Row and the Paediatric Ward at Homerton University Hospital. This post will join the Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and part-time band 8a Highly Specialist Nurse in providing the paediatric liaison service. As well as providing a role in the interface,between CAMHS services and the paediatric department in the Homerton Hospital.

The post holder will provide a specialist mental health practitioner service for the PLT, holding a caseload for which they will offer evidence-based episodes of care.

The post holder will directly contribute to the positive working environment within the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will require a high degree of professional autonomy and self-management, and will be required to account for their professional practice through appraisal and audit.
