As we continue to grow, we are looking for a skilled, proactive, and enthusiastic Operations Manager to oversee and streamline the daily operations of the business.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating the day-to-day running of the company. From scheduling and customer liaison to staff management and compliance, you’ll ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
Main Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day operations of the business, including job bookings, scheduling, and customer interaction.
Lead and support a team of tree surgeons, groundworkers, and maintenance staff.
Plan weekly work schedules and ensure job details are accurately input into management software (Hubscapes, Xero).
Carry out site surveys, prepare estimates and quotes, and handle Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) while liaising with local councils.
Maintain strong communication across all team members to deliver an effective and reliable service.
Ensure health & safety, environmental, equality and diversity policies are followed.
Be responsible for vehicle checks, compliance, and maintaining a safe and clean working environment (especially the yard).
Undertake winter gritting tasks, including route planning, and pass necessary vetting by the Metropolitan Police.
Gain induction with UK Power Networks and other relevant clients.
Provide support and guidance to colleagues as needed.
Take on additional reasonable duties assigned by the Director or senior management.
Manage calls, tasks, and priorities with flexibility and professionalism.
Experience & Skills
Required:
Strong administrative background, with experience in operations or personal assistant roles.
Familiarity with accounting and management software (Xero, Hubscapes).
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel).
Excellent keyboard and data entry skills.
Confident, clear, and professional telephone manner.
Effective multitasking and time management abilities.
Preferred:
Prior experience in the arboriculture or grounds maintenance sector.
Basic knowledge of health & safety compliance in a trade or outdoor service setting.
Qualifications
Minimum GCSE or equivalent education required.
