We’re recruiting a Public Affairs and Policy Manager to lead the development and delivery of Seetec’s public affairs and policy activity, enhancing our reputation, influence and impact across our priority sectors.

The postholder will ensure Seetec is visible and vocal in key political, policy and stakeholder forums, helping us shape the external environment, respond to legislative developments and secure growth-aligned influence with central and local government, regulators, think tanks, trade bodies and academic partners.

The role will also support strategic thought leadership, market insight and evidence-based policy development to underpin our business strategy and positioning, working in close collaboration with our Research Manager and wider strategy and communications teams.

In return for your dedication, knowledge, and commitment, we’re offering a competitive salary range of £45,000 to £50,000 p.a. (dependent on experience) with these great benefits:

Location: Flexible, with regular travel to London and other key political and business locations as needed
Hours: 37 hours a week. Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5pm, Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver an integrated public affairs strategy and political engagement plan that aligns with business priorities and builds Seetec’s influence nationally and regionally.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with MPs, Ministers, civil servants, special advisers, parliamentary committees, local authority leaders, metro mayors, combined authorities and relevant public sector stakeholders.
• Represent Seetec in external forums, policy roundtables, consultation events and select committee hearings.
• Lead the creation of compelling policy content – including position statements, consultation responses, select committee evidence, white and green papers, policy briefings, and speeches – aligned to Seetec’s business objectives.
• Work with the Research Manager to translate data and research into policy recommendations and thought leadership content.
• Identify opportunities for collaborative research and policy development with think tanks, trade bodies, universities, public sector clients and third sector organisations.
• Provide strategic political and policy advice to the Executive Leadership Team, Growth Strategy, Business Development and Communications teams.
• Contribute to the development of business cases, bids and propositions with insight on the political, economic and social context.
• Lead on political risk analysis, stakeholder mapping, sentiment tracking and policy impact assessments.

Skills and Experience:

Essential:
• Demonstrable experience in public affairs, government relations, or policy development in a complex or regulated environment.
• Strong track record of influencing public policy and developing relationships with political, public sector and third-party stakeholders.
• Proven ability to translate research and insight into policy and communications outputs.
Desirable:
• Previous experience in Parliament, central or local government, think tanks or industry bodies.
• Knowledge of the employment, skills, justice or health sectors.
• Degree in politics, public policy, communications or a related discipline.
