Crynodeb

As a Technology Delivery Manager, you will be accountable for the performance of a team and the delivery of technology products and services. You will set up your team for success and represent them to stakeholders and suppliers, building successful relationships across and beyond the organisation. You will find and remove blockers and inefficiencies, using data to continually push for better ways of working, leading to better outcomes.

Joining the Home Office Technology Delivery community, you will share knowledge and experience with colleagues across the department and wider Government, building skills and helping to apply good practice and standards.

You will support the UK’s security and prosperity through the products and services that you help to deliver.

Due to business requirements this post is available on a Full Time/Flexible Working basis. Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. Where this is the case, employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in the office.

We value diversity and inclusion and welcome applications from the widest diversity of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. We particularly encourage applications from women, people with disabilities and LGBT+ as they are currently under-represented in the Home Office at this grade level. Appointments will be made on merit based on fair and open competition.

Migration and Borders Technology Portfolio (MBTP) is part of the Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Directorate in the Home Office. MBTP is a Portfolio of around 3,500 dedicated professionals made up of civil servants and suppliers working together to develop some of the most challenging and transformative technology products, supporting critical programmes within the Migration and Borders system. Working closely with colleagues in the Migration and Borders mission, we also support a number of the Home Office's capabilities such as Customer Services, Immigration Enforcement and Border Force. We jointly design services, build, run and sustain them to enable some of the government’s most important strategic outcomes, notably the legitimate movement of people and goods to support economic prosperity.

As a Technology Delivery Manager, your main day to day responsibilities will be to:

    • Take responsibility for your team’s delivery of technology products and services, facilitating and coaching in using the most appropriate methods to explore needs, solve problems and deliver. Work with the team to continuously monitor and improve processes and performance.
    • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of realistic plans and keep delivery on track within quality, cost, and time constraints. Remove blockers to the success of your team, involving stakeholders and engaging with governance as appropriate.
    • Develop a motivated, functioning team, empowering collaboration and delivery while giving direction and constructive feedback. Monitor the profile and health of your team, working with them to resolve issues.
    • Manage risks, issues, and dependencies appropriately.
    • Engage with and influence relevant technical and non-technical stakeholders. Contribute to efforts to develop and enhance stakeholder relationships.
    • Act as a routine contact point for suppliers involved in delivery. Monitor supplier performance and help to resolve problems with suppliers.
