The post holder will be expected to work independently, organising, coordinating, and prioritising their own daily workload to support the smooth functioning of the Radiology Department. The role involves regular communication with patients, relatives, visitors, and clinical staff both face-to-face and via telephone or computer systems, including individuals whose first language may not be English. A high level of sensitivity and respect for patient privacy and dignity is essential, particularly when acting as a chaperone.
• Assisting with the safe transfer of patients to and from imaging beds in accordance with Trust policies, ensuring patient safety throughout procedures.
• Supporting portering staff in the movement of patients to and from wards.
• Ensuring clinical equipment is clean, reporting faults promptly, and removing defective equipment from use.
• Monitoring and maintaining adequate stock levels within the clinical area.
• Adhering to IRMER regulations and maintaining awareness of radiation protection procedures for both patients and staff.
• Upholding patient confidentiality and adhering to data protection guidelines.
• Demonstrating basic knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Contributing to the department’s clinical governance programme and participating in clinical audits by collecting and recording data.
• Participating in the achievement of departmental and personal objectives, including compliance with departmental guidelines.
• Taking responsibility for personal development by identifying training and education needs through performance reviews and appraisal processes.
• Supporting the ongoing development of professional practice within the department.
