With a strong technical background, you'll mentor others and collaborate across teams to improve tools that support over 100,000 colleagues.

Pay up to £66,058 plus 28.9% employer pension contributions, hybrid working with 60% home working, flexible hours, and great work life balance.

DWP. Digital with Purpose.

DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work, and make payments worth over £195bn a year to support some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital. We're driving a once-in-a-generation transformation of government services.

We're using fresh ideas and leading-edge technologies to build and maintain innovative, scalable and user-centric digital solutions that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, at key moments in their lives.

The scale of what we do is extraordinary, and our purpose is unique. We'd love you to join us.

Delivery. Work. Projects.

As a Senior Product Manager in DWP Digital's Collaboration and Communication Service team, you'll be helping shape the tools and platforms that support over 100,000 colleagues across the department.

This role focuses on the Microsoft 365 Platform, covering key technical products like Microsoft Defender and automation technologies. You'll be leading the strategy for platform security and compliance, working closely with our engineering teams to coordinate delivery and ensure our services are secure, efficient, and fit for purpose.

You'll be making evidence-based decisions, setting priorities, and owning the product roadmap. That means communicating progress clearly to stakeholders, defending bold choices, and creating the space your team needs to deliver. You'll also bring a strong technical background and experience in product management techniques that you can share with others through coaching and mentoring.

You'll be part of our wider Product Community of Practice, where Product Managers across DWP Digital come together to share learning, support each other, and solve common challenges.

If you're an experienced Product Manager with a technical edge, and you're excited by the idea of improving the tools that help DWP deliver vital services to millions of people, we'd love to hear from you.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Collaborative Working - You're comfortable working with multidisciplinary teams, from technical experts to non-technical stakeholders. You know how to engage and influence across the group to agree on the right deliverables and keep things moving toward the right outcomes.
  • Microsoft 365 & Security Tooling - You've worked with Microsoft 365 and its security and compliance tools (or similar platforms), and you understand how to get the most out of them in a secure and efficient way.
  • Strategic Thinking - You're a strategic thinker who can define a clear product vision and roadmap that aligns with business goals, and you know how to bring others along with you.
  • Backlog Prioritisation - You've got solid experience managing technical backlogs, making smart prioritisation decisions based on user needs, value, and effort.
  • Risk and Complexity Assessment - You're confident assessing the complexity and risks of a piece of work, and you make informed decisions to keep delivery on track and avoid surprises.

Details. Wages. Perks.

You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Manchester, Newcastle or Leeds, whichever is most convenient for you.

We also have all the tools and tech we need to enable our people to work and collaborate flexibly. We work a hybrid model - you'll be in the office about 40% of the time, and 60% home working.

We offer competitive pay of up to £66,058.

You'll also get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth over 28.9%, and a generous leave package starting at 26 days.

You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time.

We have a broad benefits package built around your work-life balance which includes:

  • An award-winning environment and culture: Employer of the Year 2023 (Women In IT Awards), Founders Award for Outstanding Digital Leadership 2023 (Digital 100)
  • Flexible working including flexible hours and family-friendly policies
  • Time off volunteering and charitable giving
  • Bring your authentic self to work with 'I Can Be Me in DWP'
  • Discounts and savings on shopping, fun days out and more
  • Interest-free loans to buy a bike or a season ticket, so it's even easier for you to get to work and start making a difference
  • Sports and social activities
  • Professional development, coaching, mentoring and career progression opportunities.
