With our recent investment in state-of-the-art, industry-standard facilities, this is a unique opportunity to bring real-world engineering to life and empower students with the skills they need to thrive. You'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, engaging teaching across a range of Engineering and Manufacturing qualifications, supporting learners to achieve their goals and progress into higher levels of education, apprenticeships, or skilled employment.
If you're enthusiastic about engineering education, excited by hands-on teaching, and ready to make a real difference in a supportive and forward-thinking environment, we'd love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and challenging lessons across a variety of Engineering programmes, ensuring students are inspired and supported to succeed.
- Design and plan high-quality learning and assessment strategies that drive learner achievement and progress.
- Take a lead role in course organisation, assessment, and programme administration to ensure smooth running and compliance with quality standards.
- Provide clear and constructive feedback to support student development and progression.
- Monitor student progress, retention, and achievement, taking proactive steps to address issues and improve outcomes.
- Contribute to the continuous development of the Engineering curriculum and take part in programme leadership and quality improvement activities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders to keep curriculum content current and relevant.
What we are looking for:
You will bring a strong academic background in Engineering and a passion for education that drives student success. You should be committed to maintaining high standards in teaching, assessment, and learner support, with the ability to innovate and adapt your approach to meet diverse student needs.
Essential:
- A degree (or equivalent industry-recognised qualification) in an Engineering-related subject.
- A recognised post-16 teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve within an agreed timeframe).
- Experience of delivering and assessing Engineering qualifications.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to use data, digital platforms and learner tracking systems to monitor progress and inform interventions.
- A commitment to safeguarding and supporting learners with diverse needs.
Why join us?
At Newcastle College, our Engineering department is at the forefront of technical education in the North East. We've invested significantly in cutting-edge, industry-standard facilities to ensure our students and staff work with the tools, technologies and environments that reflect real-world practice.
You'll be part of a forward-thinking, collaborative team that's passionate about developing the engineers of the future. With a strong culture of innovation, support and professional development, this is a place where your ideas and expertise can make a real impact.
