An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Advanced Care Practitioner in General Surgery to join our team of Advanced Practitioners within the Surgery and Families Division. You will work in the General Surgery Team at our Royal Lancaster Hospital.

We currently have a position available for a Advanced Practitioner who enjoys working within a fast paced, acute environment, delivering high quality care. You will work supporting both the nursing and medical teams in the assessment and treatment of patients with a range of conditions.

This post is part of a seven day a week service including weekend working and long days.

• To act as an advanced autonomous practitioner, demonstrating a high level of practice and knowledge whilst participating in direct evidenced based patient care. He/she will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing professional and clinical support in the care of patients.
• To undertake health assessments; diagnosing, treating and discharging patients.
• The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will provide expert care and treatment to patients within agreed protocols and clinical guidelines. However the Advanced Clinical Practitioner will also have the ability to make decisions outside these frameworks, where necessary based on best practice.

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
