As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a School Catering Assistant to join our close-knit team at Belmont Primary School, part of Acorn Education.
About the Role
We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to assist with general food preparation and lunch delivery at our Secondary site to start as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be responsible for food preparation and supporting the Chef where required and ensuring food allergies/intolerances are considered.
Who we are looking for
The ideal candidate will have experience and basic knowledge of food hygiene and food preparation skills.
Due to the environment, the successful candidate will be comfortable and understand the challenges when working in a special educational needs environment.
Key Responsibilities
To assist the Chef in general food preparation, this includes sandwiches, salads, jacket potatoes and specials.
To help to maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene in all catering and dining areas across the three sites
To assist serving pupils lunch and ensuring that all food safety regulations are met
To clean preparation equipment, areas and utensils to a high standard in a speedy manner
To ensure that any food allergies and/or intolerances are catered for
To ensure that all equipment and materials are used in accordance with Health & Safety guidelines
To ensure that company equipment is kept in good order and report any faulty tools or equipment to the Chef.
Undertake other duties as requested by your Line Manager in line with the execution of your role
Essential Skills and Competencies
Experience of working in a catering environment would be preferable
A clean and efficient approach to work
Ability to work under own initiative on occasion as well as part of a team
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Understanding of the challenges of working in a Special Educational Needs environment.
