Summary
Role Summary:
To assist in organising, directing and co-coordinating the activities of the Fleet, employed drivers, agency drivers and the resources necessary for the safe, efficient and economic movement of freight to and from airlines and agents in the Aberdeen area. To undertake the safe movement of cargo in and out of Circle Express buildings and vehicles. To follow the loading and warehouse processes and ensure effective operation across the warehouse. These warehouse duties will include forklift driving.
Duties and Responsibilities
Answering inbound telephone calls quickly and efficiently.
Receiving telephone and faxed instructions from clients and recording relevant
details accurately on the Company’s data management system.
Maintaining customer service levels at the highest standard by ensuring a rapid response to their requirements.
Dealing with telephone inquiries from Company and Independent Service
Providers quickly and efficiently.
Identifying needs and establishing client requirements.
Identifying opportunities to improve the service and reporting these to Depot
Manager.
Planning optimum utilisation of Independent Service Providers.
Planning optimum utilisation of all Company owned vehicles.
Obtaining and processing information to enable appropriate decisions to be
made.
Ensuring accurate storage and prompt retrieval of information.
Developing positive relationships with clients, colleagues and team members
and supporting the Warehouse and Traffic personnel.
Promoting good working practices and procedures with particular reference to
the Company’s BSI/ISO standards
Acting responsibly towards colleagues and team members in relation to
regulations and requirements in respect of Health and Safety and Aviation
Security.
Locate cargo safely and accurately in warehouse racking and bay system.
Load and unload vehicles arriving at the warehouse ensuring loads are evenly
distributed, safely secured and labelled correctly.
Ensure cargo discrepancies are correctly identified, recorded and notified to
the Depot Manager.
Completion of records for goods received and dispatched through the
warehouse.
Ensure Company plant and equipment are used correctly and safely.
Check tyres, brakes, lights, oil, water, fuel levels and general condition of any
forklifts driven.
Report all issues affecting safety and the security of the warehouse, colleagues
and visitors to the Depot Manager. Consider solutions.
Ensure that the warehouse area is kept clean and tidy.
Experience & Qualifications
At least 2 years working experience in a warehouse environment and transport
related workplace.
At least 2 years’ experience of using a counterbalance fork lift truck.
Forklift Licence.
To undertake Cargo Operative training (supplied by Circle Express) upon
successful completion of vetting process.
An understanding of Health & Safety, Site Security awareness and Data
Protection.
Can carry out department inductions.
Able to write simple reports and completion of paperwork pertaining to the
position.
Able to communicate effectively in both one to one and small group settings
with colleagues, customers and employees.
Ability to work under pressure in busy fast-paced environment.
Team player as well as able to work independently.
Hard-working and flexible.
Customer care orientated.
Calm under pressure.
Able to meet deadlines.
