Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic, HGV Technician, LGV Fitter, Truck Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or Fleet Technician to join a busy and professional commercial vehicle workshop in Portsmouth. This permanent, full-time role offers excellent pay, structured training, career progression, and the chance to work on a wide range of heavy goods vehicles, trailers, and fleet vehicles in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Service, maintain, and repair HGVs, LGVs, trailers, and commercial fleet vehicles to VOSA, DVSA, and manufacturer standards
Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults efficiently
Perform routine inspections, MOT preparation, and compliance checks
Maintain accurate job cards, service records, and workshop documentation
Use diagnostic and workshop tools effectively for fault-finding
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure workshop productivity and smooth workflow
Participate in ongoing technical and manufacturer-led training

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:
Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent
Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic, HGV Technician, LGV Fitter, Truck Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or Fleet Technician
Full UK driving licence
Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills

Desirable:
HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
IRTEC accreditation
Experience working with dealer-level diagnostic tools
Previous fleet or main dealer experience
