We are seeking a Business Support Officer to serve as a key member of the Refugee, Resettlement, and Migration service.

Salary: £32,597 to £35,412 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week) Monday to Friday

Location: County Hall, West Street, Chichester, PO19 1RQ

Interview Date: 29 August 2025 to 02 September 2025

Regular attendance at your designated base location will also be necessary, and there will opportunities for some remote work. Final arrangements will be confirmed with the successful candidate.

You will need to be able to travel independently around the county, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes available.

About the Job

As a Business Support Officer, you will be responsible for managing business processes within the service, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement while ensuring quality and accuracy are maintained within the systems used.

Our work in Refugee, Resettlement and Migration Service and any given day can often feel quite different from the next! There will be some key responsibilities likely to feature in this role, including:

  • Providing effective and efficient daily support to the Business Assurance team, including compiling and analysing data to monitor improvement, performance, and progress, as well as overseeing monitoring and planning activities.
  • Conduct regular budget monitoring for service expenditures utilising financial services systems.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of commitments and expenditures against budgets to enable the Business Assurance Manager to make well informed decisions.
  • Foster strong relationships with the Resettlement Team and the Integration & Support Officers by collaborating and supporting tasks such as training colleagues following updates to systems or processes.
  • Receive all requests for changes to the current service, ensuring they are processed in accordance with the governance framework.
  • Assess the impact of proposed changes and the relevant compliance considerations, highlighting the benefits and potential constraints, to prepare reports.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience and knowledge.
  • Relevant knowledge of continuous improvement processes, procedures, and policies related to operating within a dynamic and evolving service environment.
  • Demonstrable experience as a capable member of a continuous improvement team, preferably in a service improvement support role or similar position.
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and applying improvement methodologies to deliver effective support.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to anticipate challenges and resolve issues independently by planning effective solutions and making sound, pragmatic decisions.
  • Proficient in IT tools including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and various web-based applications, used for word processing, data analysis, research, and creating electronic presentations.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills, enabling effective financial analysis and reporting.
