We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and dynamic consultants with a special interest in Intensive Care Medicine and an associated speciality in Anaesthetics, Emergency Medicine or any other compatible Medical base specialty, to join our progressive team of intensivists, and allied professionals.

The Trust has close clinical and academic ties with local medical schools, and will be actively involved in the new Kent medical school. Successful applicants will be able to participate in teaching both under and postgraduate students associated with these Universities.

Applicants should have full GMC registration and License to Practice, and be on the Specialist Register or within six months of receiving CCT at the time of interview. An Enhanced DBS (Adults and Children) check is required for this post.

The Trusts’ critical care units are consistently amongst the best performing in the UK with excellent ICNARC outcomes and a fantastic reputation for evidenced–based practice and education and training. The Intensive Care team is a multidisciplinary consultant body comprising of consultants in critical care and other specialties, with great relationships with other directorates within the trust.

The critical care team is extensively involved in portfolio research, education and teaching and training. There is a 24/7 Critical Care outreach service which includes Intensive, and a long term vascular access service both with consultant sessions and in addition both units have follow up clinics.

The new appointee will join a team of 15 Critical Care Consultants in total, who are responsible for the Trusts’ two critical care units. There are excellent opportunities to develop personal interests including echocardiography, research, governance, outreach and ICU follow-up.

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital trust in the South East of England. The Trust provides general hospital services to a population of approximately 760,000 in South West Kent and North East Sussex, and some specialist services to a wider population, including cancer services to around 2 million people in Kent, Medway and East Sussex. Around 140,000 new patients present each year to the A&E departments. It comprises two major hospitals: Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury and Maidstone Hospital, and Fordcombe Hospital, a smaller hospital located near Tunbridge Wells which provides NHS and private services.

The Trust’s Headquarters are at Maidstone Hospital. The Trust Chair is Mrs Annette Doherty, the Chief Executive is Mr Miles Scott and the Medical Director is Dr Sara Mumford. The Chief Operating Officer is Mr Sara Davis. The Clinical Director for Anaesthetics is Dr Helen Burdett and the General Managers are Joana Silva and Ms Erica Houghton.

responsibility. This will include any patients referred to you and cared for by you personally or by members of your team.

To participate in clinical and other service activities and developments with the aim of ensuring a high standard of patient care across the Trust.

To work in close co-operation with other medical, professional and managerial colleagues, both within and outside the specialty, to provide high quality health care to the Trust’s patients, and to make a contribution to future thinking about the Trust’s strategic direction.
