We are looking for a perioperative practitioner RN/ODP to join our friendly and busy operating department working in the scrub and circulating role.
We are a dedicated team working over 6 operating theatres, covering electives, emergencies and obstetrics. Specialties include Gynaecology, Urology, General, Colorectal, ENT, minor Max Fax, Dental and Orthopaedic Trauma, for both adult and paediatric patients.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic to learn, dedicated, motivated and possess high standards of care and a vision for service improvement.
You will be expected to actively support, coordinate and assist in the management and delivery of high-quality care to patients during the peri-operative phase of their care.
A flexible attitude to work is required together with an excellent level of communication and a good sense of humour.
To ensure high standards of practice through example and teaching assisting and supervising junior theatre staff, demonstrating speciality knowledge within clinical area and participate in patient focused care.
Maintaining and improving personal knowledge of current trends and developments within perioperative practice.
Assisting, liaising and communicating with the multidisciplinary team within the department, and wider hospital setting.
Maintaining accurate records of care, ensuring all Health & Safety measures are followed according to local policies. Reporting all incidents, accidents and complaints to Theatre Manager or acting deputy.
Participating in the induction of new staff, teaching and assessment of all learners in accordance with the needs of the department and the requirements of their course of study.
Participating in the effective management of human and material resources, ensuring correct labelling and dispatching of pathology specimens from theatre to other sites. Understand and adhere to Trust policies relating to the security and control of drugs.
Act up or deputise as deemed necessary by senior staff and undertake other duties within the scope of the post as agreed with senior staff or
departmental manager.
