Population Health Research Data Collection Lead (4 positions available)
Vacancy Reference: 179232
Salary: UofG Grade 5, £27,319 - £31,236 per annum, pro-rated to the number of hours assigned to, and worked by, you.

These posts are part time (41.6 hours over the duration of the contract) and open ended with funding available up until 18 December 2026. We aim for a start date as 1st October 2025.

The University of Glasgow has been changing the world for more than 570 years, and today we are one of the world's top 100 universities. We are delighted to have recently been awarded Scottish University of the Year by the Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024.
Our people have always been at the forefront of innovation, and our past achievements inspire our current world changers.

The School of Health and Wellbeing are seeking to appoint 4 data collection leads to join the team. The postholder(s) will lead a data collection team undertaking a pupil survey in Scottish secondary schools as part of the Equally Safe at School Trial. This is a national evaluation of a whole-school approach to tackling sexual harassment and gender-based violence. The evaluation is led by a research team in the School of Health and Wellbeing.

The role involves travel to secondary schools across Scotland to administer an online survey to all students in years 2, 4, and 6. Tasks include preparing fieldwork materials, leading a team of data collection assistants, supporting teachers with survey logistics, explaining the purpose of the survey and answering student queries, monitoring classrooms to ensure ‘exam conditions’ for completion, and fieldwork administration. Administration in schools can be complex and logistically difficult and initiative and good judgement is required. The survey questions are also sensitive. Training will be provided.

Data collection for the Equally Safe at School project will take place in school term-time between October 2025 and end of December 2026, with most fieldwork taking place between October 25 and end of March 2026, and a few further schools between October and December 2026. You must be available and willing to work at least 3 days per week during school-term time between October 2025 and March 2026 and be prepared to travel. A clean driving licence is preferred.

The University of Glasgow’s PVG policy aligns with the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020 and reflects the legal requirements effective from 1 April 2025, including the mandatory PVG Scheme membership for regulated roles.

The post for which you are applying is considered to be a regulated role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act, individuals working in a regulated role must be a PVG Scheme member before employment. If you are successful in your application, the offer of employment will be conditional subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme record check. We will be in touch regarding requirements related to this.
