Materials Planner
£35k - £40k per annum

We are looking for a Materials Planner to join our client’s team based in Wrexham on a permanent basis. Reporting to the MPL Manager, this highly demanding role requires the successful candidate to be assertive and have a high degree of self-motivation.

Performance Objectives
• Demand Forecasting & Planning
o Ability to interpret forecasts and historical data.
o Use of MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems to align material availability with production schedules.
• Inventory Management
o Maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess.
o Familiarity with inventory control techniques like JIT (Just-In-Time), EOQ (Economic Order Quantity), and safety stock calculations.
• ERP/MRP System Proficiency
o Skilled in systems like SAP, or other ERP platforms.
o Able to generate and analyse reports to support decision-making.
• Supplier Coordination
o Strong communication with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
o Ability to negotiate lead times and manage supplier performance.
• Problem-Solving & Agility
o Quick thinking to resolve material shortages, delays, or quality issues.
o Adaptable to changes in production plans or market demand.
• Data Analysis & Reporting
o Use of Excel, Power BI, or similar tools to analyse trends and performance.
o Ability to present data clearly to stakeholders.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
o Work closely with production, procurement and logistics
o Understand the broader impact of material planning decisions.

Person Specification
• The successful candidate will have extensive experience working as a materials planner previously and of stock optimisation.
• Previous SAP knowledge is preferred alongside strong computer literacy.
• This is a fast-moving role so you will need to be resilient and have a strong sense of urgency to succeed within this challenging but rewarding role.
• The role will be joining an established team and therefore you will need to fit into this whilst bring new ideas, ambition and drive.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and lead times.
• Knowledge of bill of materials and routing.
• Detail orientated and organised.
• Proactive and forward thinking.
• Strong communicator across all levels.
