JOB TITLE: Subject Access Requests (Sars) Officer - Customer Services

REF: Brent 5274297 and Brent 5274296

Pay rate: £20.74 per hour PAYE

Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 3 to 4 months

Working Arrangement: Hybrid working, with the expectation that you will work from home two days per week and attend the office for the remaining days, subject to service requirements



The role:

On behalf of a local council, we are seeking two Subject Access Requests (Sars) Officer to provide individuals with access to their personal data, held by the Council and its service providers, in line with GDPR and data protection legislation

You should have significant previous experience in a similar customer service position dealing with Data Subject Access Requests or similar, involving regular communication with the public, internal council officers and external organisation

It is essential that you also have previous experience of performing VLOOKUPS and working with Pivot Tables

Key Responsibilities:

Providing advice and guidance on customer's rights of access to their personal data, dealing with any of their issues, in line with GDPR and data protection legislation
Ensure that all relevant data is disclosed to individuals securely, in response to Subject Access Requests, as soon as possible and statutory timeframes
Ensure that Third Party Disclosure requests are processed and that relevant information is disclosed to third parties within 20 working days
Support organisational compliance with data protection law
Encouraging and promoting positive and open attitudes to the sharing of people’s personal data with them, improving council process and ensuring adequate procedures and training



What the client is looking for:

Significant previous experience in a similar type of position dealing with Data Subject Access Requests or similar, involving the regular communication with the public, internal council officers and external organisation
Previous experience of working in a customer service environment
Significant previous experience in managing a process under tight deadlines, monitoring the process, identifying and resolving issues in getting the process completed
Strong experience working with Microsoft Office suite and Adobe - particularly Adobe
Candidate should be comfortable performing VLOOKUPS and working with Pivot Tables
Significant previous experience in writing communication and reports that are read by senior management
Previous experience of working with IT systems or databases
